It’s interesting how often “education, awareness and training” are mentioned as safety solutions and “hiring” is left out. It’s not part of the standard conversation and equation. In my experience, this reflects the attitude of most companies; hire for ability and train for safety. HR departments are hiring people who are destined to cause accidents, no mater what you do. It’s time to involve HR in the safety equation and hire people who fit the safety profile. Behavioral assessments can identify these people quickly and easily.
