Entrepreneur magazine’s article Before You Bring on Your Next Employee, Check These 3 Things Off Your List recommends that you watch for three things:
1. Culture fit
2. Ego’s are In check
3. Able to deal with ambiguity
I think #1, culture fit, is critical to every hiring decision. Culture takes in work style, team interaction, decision making process and much, much more. If a person does not fit here, it is unlikely that they will become a high performing employee. Some companies overlook culture when the skill sets are a good match. In reality, what they are doing is sacrificing the well-being of their existing employees to get something that they might have been able to accomplish through training. Employers should think long and hard before bringing on someone that will disrupt the culture and potentially cause others to leave.
