Time gets it!
Finally the main stream press understands what major companies have known for decades: assessments improve the hiring process. Not only do they help companies identify people who are a better fit for the job, they help job seekers get slotted into positions they might never have expected. What Time Magazine failed to mention is that many companies now use these assessments to fit applicants into jobs that they did not apply for. Imagine if a company said, you don’t match our needs for the job you applied for but we send your resume over to our other decision because we see that you would be a great fit for them. Using behavioral assessments, this is becoming more the rule than the exception. The benefits for everyone are obvious. The applicant gets a shot a great job while the company fills more positions faster and with highly qualified people.
There is no reason to fear explosion of assessments in the hiring process. In face, even the EEOC says they are a good idea when applied properly.
